About Brad Temkin

Brad Temkin (American, b. 1956) is a photographer whose work examines the contemporary landscape and human impact on the environment through projects on architecture, ecology and natural resources.  He has exhibited internationally in both solo and group exhibitions at institutions including The Field Museum, Chicago Cultural Center, Museo Sivori, Southeast Museum of Photography, New Mexico Museum of Art, George Eastman Museum, and Museum of Contemporary Photography, among others. His photographs are held in several permanent collections of institutions including the Art Institute of Chicago, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Amon Carter Museum, George Eastman Museum, and the Museum of Contemporary Photography, among others. Temkin’s photographs have been featured in Aperture, TIME, Black & White Magazine, and European Photography. He received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2017 and two Illinois Arts Council Fellowships in 2007 and 2024. He is the author of three monographs: Private Places (Center for American Places, 2005), Rooftop (Radius Books, 2015), and The State of Water (Radius Books, 2019). Temkin taught photography at Columbia College Chicago between 1984 and 2020 and continues to mentor emerging artists
