Water, Power, and the Land Between
Project Statement
Water, Power, and the Land Between explores how the landscape and large infrastructure continue to evolve under a warming climate. Continuing my ongoing inquiry into the hidden systems that sustain contemporary life, this project examines the intersection of politics, capital and environmental realities through the Los Angeles Aqueduct. Stretching between the Owens Valley and city of Los Angeles, the aqueduct system stands as both an engineering achievement and a lasting source of environmental transformation. Through photographs of land, water systems and surrounding terrain, this work considers the historical ambitions alongside tensions surrounding water rights, urban growth, and climate instability. As cities confront continued expansion and environmental strain, this Water, Power, and the Land Between asks us to reckon with the hidden systems that sustain us, and the costs they carry.
